Marketplace Christians?

Last weekend Dr Paul Ariga challenged us in his messages to become marketplace Christians. As I have grown closer to God in recent weeks, I have felt a deeper burden for pre-Christians. My experience is that as I become more intimate with Him, I will naturally receive the burden and passions that are on His heart. This is not unusual in life; families often share the same passions like football team loyalty. As we do life together, our DNA seems to flow over those closest to us. How I can spread my DNA about Jesus to my pre-Christian friends and family?  In my case this will not naturally happen because I do not visit the marketplace with any intention of doing life with friends and family who don’t know Jesus. Mark 6:55-56 reports…

“They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he (Jesus) went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.”

Jesus visited the marketplaces and people were never the same after meeting Him. I want this to be said of me too. So I am having a life rethink! I would love to chat with you on how we can be better marketplace Christians.

What is Our DNA?

As we begin our search for a Senior Pastor, it is important to know what Clovercrest is, what is our calling, our DNA? What are the unnegotiable elements of our church that we believe are God initiated? A new Senior Pastor will need to have the same DNA, the same vision for the church. We are not looking to change direction just our Senior Pastor. What are your thoughts? When you think of Clovercrest, what do you believe are the key elements of who we are, that are unchangeable?

I have a dream!

Hi, This is a Mark’s personal blog entry. I just want to dream for a moment and invite you into my dream. I am wondering what we can do creatively to refresh the church, communicate well with everyone in new and refreshing ways, To explore the potential of technology and use it to reach the lost and engage with our community and beyond. I have been thinking of creating a “dream team” to help me dream and birth new initiatives. To set up a small dream fund where people might give a donation that can be used for trying out new things and ideas. I want to try new things and be free to fail or succeed.  What do you think? I’m just dreaming….check out the clip on youtube “shift happens” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMcfrLYDm2U tomorrow is a new world, how do we join it?

What will our church look like in 2020

“What will our church look like in 2020?” We need to talk about the future and our unique shape in the world. We are becoming more and more an online community, Family means different things now. How does a church remain relevant in a future world. So I am asking for your opinion “What will our church look like in 2020?” and as we explore this question, perhaps it will help us look for the right Senior Pastor to take us there. Blessings Mark

Mark’s first post

Hi everyone, this is all new to me but I will give it a go. I am the Administrator of our church. One of my roles is to explore new communication opportunities and as I see my kids do their facebook and myspace pages, I wonder how we as a church can tap into these new technologies (well not so new now).

What are your thoughts? have a question I can answer?
